Max More

Max More is a transhumanist, and author of the philosophy of transhumanism in 1990 and wrote the seminal essay Transhumanism: Toward a Futurist Philosophy with introducing the term “transhumanism” as it is now understood. More founded the first transhumanist organization known as Extropy Institute in 1991. The institute created the first email list on the web for discussion on the future, produced the glossy Extropy magazine, and formed the first transhumanist conferences that brought together foremost transhumanist thinkers throughout the 1990s. In 1995, More obtained his doctorate from the University of Southern California with the dissertation The Diachronic Self: Identity, Continuity, and Transformation. In 2011, Max More is currently the CEO and President of the Alcor Life Extension Foundation, the world’s leading cryonics organization.

As an ‘icon’ of transhumanism, Max is considered a Philosopher and the Father of Modern Philosophy of Transhumanism (1990).
