    Gene therapies for humans are quite capable of curing a myriad of common diseases and conditions, localized gene therapies could even cure points of chronic pain, and CD22 targeted therapies could greatly improve resilience to neurological degeneration. Beyond human gene therapies biosphere engineering to implement simple carbon capture tweaks in the species responsible for most of the planet’s carbon capture processes could be applied to reverse climate change in time scales more than an order of magnitude shorter than any other proposed methods to-date. There is also virtually no possibility of any human expansion beyond this planet and little hope of preventing massive pandemics of both natural and artificial (bioweapon) natures absent robust gene therapy research programs.
