Why are you Transhuman(ist)?

I am a transhumanist because I believe humanity is constantly evolving, that in the coming decades and centuries we can become more than we currently are and that we should have the right to use safe, effective technologies to transcend the limitations of the human body and mind.

James “J” Hughes Ph.D. is a bioethicist and sociologist who serves as the Associate Provost for the University of Massachusetts Boston, and as a senior fellow at the UMass Boston Center for Applied Ethics. Since 2005 he has served as the Executive Director of the technoprogressive thinktank Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies (IEET). He is the author of the book Citizen Cyborg and writes and speaks widely on politics, ethics, religion, and futurism.
